Planning and maintaining ground defence

The most important factor in preventing an enemy attack is an effective army that is well accustomed to our conditions. A strong army supported by an air force can prevent the occupation and exploitation of our country.

The Army is responsible for defending our national territory. During peacetime this means planning, building, and maintaining our ground defence capability. In addition, the Army provides executive assistance and supports other authorities in safeguarding the vital functions of society.

According to its statutory duties, the Army is also responsible for implementing international crisis management operations and supporting the other armed services by planning and implementing call-ups, conscript supervision, and general logsitics services for all defence branches and establishments of the Defence Forces.
